Your Oscar, bristlenose and clowns should be fine although clowns grow big they take a long time and you would be better with a bigger shoal than 2 as they feel more secure in numbers.

I would drop the bala's for more clowns  O0

I agree with Gerry, scrap the Bala's and get 2 or 3 more Clowns.  They will be much happier in a larger group and you won't have to worry about the Bala's outgrowing your tank, which they will do as they can get to 12 to 14"  O0

AND1 on more clowns.   O0

they're tellin ya right, clown loaches definitely better in a group of 4-5, makes them much more comfortable and active.

One other thing I always tell folks that are gettin clown loaches:  make sure you build them a few good caves or hiding places that your Oscar cant access at all, its kind of odd, but the more good hiding places you have, the more your clowns will be out swimming around because they know they have safe place(s) to run when O gets a little feisty.  Can also use the hiding places as "feeding stations" and drop food in so glutton O cant get it first.

good luck and enjoy your new set-up

I beleive that's 800 GPH so that should give you the required 10 times per hour turnover and be adequate in my opinion.

I don't know these 2 filters but take it the numbers refer to GPH,,if thats the case, go with your ac 300 and a fluval 304,,that is a total of 604 GPH which is near enough to the ten times turnover recommended, plus with a cannister (304) you can get away with slightly less turnover as they are very efficient.

No point spending hard earned cash, when you have a perfectly good filter already that just needs topped up.

Well thats my two bobs worth.

Yep, that filtration and good tank maintenance will keep you going for a good while. You can always upgrade later :)

That would probably work but it would have been better if you added all the fish at the same time. Right now that tank belongs to your oscar and he is going to act that way with any fish you introduce. I would recommend re-arranging your tank when you add your new fish so that territories have to be re-established and your new fish have a chance. Silver dollars are very quick but if an oscar is determined he'll get him in the long run, so be careful and good luck. O0
I took you home, put you on the glass, I pulled off your wings and I laughed. I saw you change into a fly.
