Upgrading soon
« on: October 01, 2005, 01:49:44 AM »
In a few days Im going to be doing a major forum upgrade and possibly there may be some down time, hopefully not long enough for anyone to notice.(usually goes smoothly and I have done a mock upgrade that went smoothly) You all will notice however that a lot of mods like map, topic solved, and various other little modifications I have made will unavaiable.(I writing over all files to get a clean slate) The reason for this is that I am doing a fresh overwrite and this will remove any mods made. Some mods may not be able to be re-installed until their authors update their scripts to work with the new release candidate of SMF and some  mods I have made personally might take longer to work back into the coding.

Anyway just a warning for you all, when I do it the forum will be in  mainatenance mode and you wont be able to post   and sorry for any inconveinance it may cause.

If you had real software behind these forums you wouldn't have to wait for the mod authors to get off their ass and make sure their mods work with the latest edition  >:D

The only reason I'm using phpBB is because I can't afford a vB license.  Once I start a steady job and get my truck on the road then I'll upgrade.

Besides it's not like anyone visits my forums  :(

I wouldnt worry personally unless you really wanna use vb and got money to spend on it,, nothing real special imo.

I do. It's actually a nice forum  and WAY better then I could get phpBB to look when I tried before I gave up and went for yabbse.

SMF's gallery add ons  and intergrations for galleries, chat and other stuff are unreal to, if you have an understanding of codeing  :-\ <--- which leaves me out  :-[

No my host is Dixiesys.  Been with them 2 years (maybe 3) and was only down for 3 hours when they upgraded my server.  Super fast tech response and they're pretty smart to boot. :)

As for the looks of my board, it's just a template I found.  I did some minor tweaking but nothing major.

I didn't even know smf existed until I came here  ;D  Might look into them, but for now I'm happy with phpbb.

Oh and thanks for visiting  O0 ><:

A little bit of Cichlid Knowledge- Don't stick your fingers next to a convict during breeding time.  It Hurts.

Yeah I got sick of waiting for the original mod author to fix his coding so I figured it out on a testing forum and currently doing it all manually,,, shouldnt be much longer b4 I will let you all edit your pins, veiw the map etc..
Fingers crossed :)

Gerry if you replace your pin and choose the scotland flag its should work,, you still gotta use the UK map though..... any other seperate countries that are thrown in with the english flag? (I think wales is seperate?)

anyways people try it out and let me know of any bugs,,, firefox people will have to reload their browsers.
