The slime coat shed has been mentioned to me in relation to "regurgitation" and therefore the subsequent fouling of the water.  I have never witnessed my cat doing the regurgitation thing.  Although I admit to probably feeding him more at one time than I should, as evidenced by the gross distention of his abdomen, he's never asked me to bring him a bucket...ah, who knows.  Whenever I notice his slime a little shaggy, it clears within a day or so.

There is no stress on my big raph he is in a 50 long with a 12" pleco and a smaller 2 year old raph that is only about 3" long and recently a newly added Jardini Arowana that is maybe 3 1/2" long. I'm just using the tank as a grow out for the Jardini and this "slime coat shedding" if that's what it is, was happening before he was added to the tank. I did test my water and everything is at zero. This is a well established tank and if it wasn't I'm sure my baby Jardini would be dead by now. They are extremely sensitive to ammonia and especially nitrate, even more so than most test kits. Maybe it's just a case of my chronic overfeeding. As a side note, he is no longer shedding anything except poop and none of the other fish were affected by this at all. ???. Some things you just can't explain.
I took you home, put you on the glass, I pulled off your wings and I laughed. I saw you change into a fly.

I guess so Silven....my cats shedding seems to be related to my chronic overfeeding as well.  But will I ever learn?  I'm an old dog and you know what they say about old dogs and new tricks... ::)
As for you Madasa, if you have forgotten the nature of this thread, might I suggest you go back to the beginning and refresh your memory?  All four pages!
