If you go for catfish,,Jags will never be seen, try this guy Plimelodi Ornatus

Nice but not as visually pleasing as the pictus in my humble opinion

If your going for the Catfish, then Gerry, I totally agree with you.  I love my Pictus Cat, as he is a very active and entertaining Catfish!

I had a Jaguar and I decided to give him back in 2 or 3 weeks, because he stayed in the same spot forever, LOL

As far as the Geos?Eartheaters go. I love them, but JC is right, I would either go with Catfish or the Eartheaters.  Geos, to me are kind of like Cichlids that act lke Catfish, most of the time, LOL.  Hope that came out right. ;D

No 2 cents here.  Just a couple Piggy back questions.

A couple said no to the firemouths, but didn't say why?  So, why?

How do you tell the sexes apart with the green severums?   I have 4 about 3-4".

I'm still amazed by the information obtainable on this site and the internet in general.  Now I have so many favorite spots marked my head is spinning trying to remember what site had what info....DOH!!!!

Males have squiggly lines on the nose between the eyes and females don't.
Tracey has a picture of her pair together, she might post it for you, if she still has it.

I would go with the Raphs as they are some of my favorites. I have a six year old male and their max size is only 6" not 8". And if you decide to go with Pictus I would not get any plecos as my pictus would harass my much larger pleco non stop. As for the cichlids I like your last list that seem like it would make for an interesting tank. :fish:
I took you home, put you on the glass, I pulled off your wings and I laughed. I saw you change into a fly.

Thanks for the pics.  I'll have to take a closer look when I get home tonight.  Mine are still pretty young.  Does that matter?  I'm amazed at how they just turn themselves black when spooked!!

Age is signioficant in telling sex though i couldnt tell you what size ot age.  I cannot tell in two 1 inchers that i have as yet, but it is apparent in two 3 inchers which i have.

Ok first of all I'm going to have a ton of filtration, I don't know alot about filtration but will have 2 canisters, 2 sponges, and if I can remember correctly I think I will have a 350 Magnum (That sounds alot like gun so IDK if thats what it is called sorry)

Anyways what do you think of this tank (I dont have any fish yet)

1 Firemouth
1 Green Texas
1 Green Servum
1 Blue Acara
1 Port Acara
1 Rainbow Cichlid
6 Silver Dollars
2 Jaguar Catfish
4 Pictus Catfish
1 Raphael Catfish
1 Loricaria Cat

The only fish that I'm worried about is the Green Texas because I can't find much on them and don't know how aggrasive they are, and I have found that I tend to have a over stocking problem so and I want to get this tank right the first time.  I plan on having the typical Cichlid tank with lots of rocks, driftwood, pots, and fake plants.

I'd advise against getting the Green Texas and the Jaguar cats. but, with the Green Texas, every fish is different, so you could, but I wouldn't take the chance. There will be slight teritorial issues and all, but I'd also get more then 1 firemouth and a Severum so there could be pairs or trios.

I`d also advise against the Green Texas as in that combo of fish that your getting, they tend to be way more on the aggressive side.

I think you have too many Catfish on your list also. I`d ut it down to 2 or 3 if I were you.

Good luck. O0
