yaaaaaaaaaaaaay, when i turned on the light to the tank and looked at the con's cave guess what i saw. i saw teeny weeny little baby fry. there were like 100 of them and were just wigglin there. now in a way im a grandpa. whoa already and i havent even turned 13 yet. im getting old. well i am keep on seeing a lot of fry then about fifty then alot then about a little bit. what is happening anyways???

congrats  ..they'll usually become free swimming fairly quickly and will look like a swarm of tiny tadpole shaped things being gaurded intently by the parents. You'll be able to see them over a period of weeks become recognisable as convicts interms of fins and markings. You'll need to feed them once they start swimming around but not while in the wriggler stage they are in at the moment.

Here's mine at the moment, not the best pics and there's heaps more then could get in a decent photo but these are about 5 weeks old or so to give you an idea of what they'll start to look like once they pass the "tadpole looking" stage...

Congratulations!  It is so exciting to see that initial batch of fry.  I know I was very elated myself...couldn't pull my nose away from the glass.  Baby brine shrimp either frozen or hatched is a good first food for your con fry.  They love it and it is very nutritious.  Keep your water tip top clean and feed them well and they'll grow like crazy.

just an update but i still have around fifty babies left. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. . I  them alot.

today i called the lfs and asked them if they have a syringe-like thing to inject food into the water near my baby con fry and they said they dont have one small enough and i was like bullcrap. but then he asked me where are the baby fish and i said they were in my tank and he said they should be in a breeder trap. should i get one of these or is he just trying to scandal me of my money.

He s just tryiong to make a buck - as Gerry said they arent being eaten so you dont need one.

As for something to inject the food with get yourself down the local pharmacy and pick up a 5 or 10ml syringe.

I'm almost guessing the pharmacy would just give you one (syringe).  They have boxes of them they give away for giving kids cough meds etc.

for some reason my female is the only one guarding and nurturing the fry because all she does is chase the male away from the fry. did their bond break or something???

Mine did the same and in the end the male decimated her and that was that.

Just be wary of the male - if he isnt involved perhaps move him in case you experience as i did.

Airline tubeing is cheaper and works better 

Cut a peice a foot or so long.
Dip the end in whatever your feeding.
Put your thumb over the other end.
Stick it near the fry,remove your thumb and the food will fall out 
10 cent feeder

Air line tubing is a very good idea.  You can cut the length to reach where ever you are trying to get without getting your hand and arm into the tank and disturbing things or causing a ruckus.  I used a medicine bottle dropper which I sterilized and squirted the thawed baby brine in the direction of the fry.  Keep an eye on the male...if he starts to make trouble by chasing or showing aggression towards your female or fry, get him out of there.  He may be ready to spawn again before the female is ready and before the fry are old enough to "move along" and make room for the next batch.
