Black Convict Showing Yellow Markings
« on: October 28, 2006, 11:13:39 AM »
Some time ago I posted a thread here about two Black Convicts (with the red markings) that I have in a 50 gallon tank with a Jack Dempsey and a Pleco. One Con had very black markings/coloring and the other Con did not. Some of you responded that the really dark Con was the dominant one, as it also exhibited more agressive behavior towards the lighter Con.

Well - - as the Cons are now growing I have noticed that the lighter Con is now showing a Yellowish color, especially on the head/face area.

Just curious if anyone has seen this with Cons and what it could mean???

Thanks!

I did send a message but not ssure if you got it. i might have replyed to the worng place.
Any way cons coloring it just like people some have darker shades of color or lighter
shades.  I have 66 gallon tank with five mature cons and juvinile cons.  The darker fish seem
to be more dominenet, but it could possible be that one of you cons could be a female.  Does this
con with the yellow have any redish coloring on the belly, if so it coulld be a female.
I have juvinile which are pinkish bodies but have greyblack strips. Could be part of nature.
Good luck
juli :) :)
