No, not for life. You should get at least a 30 gallon for a mated pair. They can be very aggressive when breeding, which is most of the time. >:D
I took you home, put you on the glass, I pulled off your wings and I laughed. I saw you change into a fly.

No offense but your dad is wrong. That is not big enough for a mated con pair for life. :what:

A 30 gal is longer and it might work, the question here was for 10 gal
You took the type right out of my fingers. O0

 8) I'd save that 10g possibly for the fry. The mated pair is definitely gonna need a bigger tank say at least 29g. As stated above their aggression escalates when breeding & that's quite often for 'Cons'.  "T"
1 Oscar(10"),1 JD(8"),1Raphael Cat(7")
Tank - 125gl. TENECOR w/ Current Satellite litestrip
Filtration - Fluval 404, Rena XP3, A/C 110(500), 2 RenaCal 200w heaters ( 79 degrees)
& 2 MaxiJet 1200's for movement

Initially the 10 will be fine.  The Cons will start to breed around 1-1.5".  But like the others said you will need to upgrade the tank size when they get closer to 3".  They will still continue to breed but often either the male or the female begins to get agitated by the cramped quarters and will kill their partner.

By the way bud, don't believe everything your dad says... just because he is a grown up doesn't me he knows everything.  It sounds like he's been listening to the LFS, which means there is probably allot he doesn't know.
