not again...
« on: August 20, 2007, 04:00:12 PM »
Well I bought a Jellybean from walmart, and he and my female con had a batch of babies and that didnt work they atem or somen, and I found a case of Ick on the 2 proud parents so I put them in the 10 and guess what eggs... the only reason I dont want eggs is that I am worried that the babies might be deformed due to the fact that by the tail on the jellybean is deformed..  :'(

It's not recommended to onbreed them anyway as the parrot is a hybrid allready, so you end up with even more hybridized babies which can have both physical problems aswell as present ethical issues if you distribute them. There's not much you can do to prevent them breeding once they've paired up unfortunately apart from seperating the fish or continuously culling the fry. Do you allready have info on treating the ICH?

Yeah I have everything on that , I was just at my local walmart and they had a blue lobster or something like that I came back it was lying on the bottom dead, they dont even care, I hate that they sell fish, I found babies there to from the jellybeans, I am gonna keep the babies for myself and for feeders so nothing to worry about there. but how is it that being in a tank for an hour or to there are eggs, they must be in love...

Many times the parrots are sterile because of all the inbreeding necessary to get fish that are that deformed.  So its possible that they are trying to breed but arent being successful due to that reason.

Depending on how you feel about it personally you could always just cull off any babies if they eventually do get a successful batch of eggs.  Just dont introduce them back into the market with a LFS, use them as feeders or just cull them.

Walmart fish are never healthy i got a fish there once that was very sick i soon found out and it was bad. And also everytime i go there all the fish are soo hungry like they havent been fed in weeks. So im just saying walmart fish wouldnt be the healthiest in the first place anyways.
