Midas cichlids grow to the same size of Oscars approximately. Don't know exactly how fast they grow. I never had one but from what I've heard they are one tough fish!!!

Your variety just got shot, lol.  Your gonna have to keep that guy by thimself, haha.  One mean fish!!!!!!!!!!  When full grown, he might have some trouble turning around if the tank is only 1' wide, they grow larger than that sometimes.  Anyway, good luck, cool fish!!!!!

Something I've always wanted to try is stocking huge shoals of dwarf fish in a big tank--Microgeophagus ramirezi or something small like that.

If your Midas is anything like my GT was, it took him a day in the tank before he was less shy, and nearly killed my oscars. I returned him. Anyways, Good luck, but yeah, good luck keeping anything else with that fish.

Well, being fish have their own unique pesonalities, sometimes you can get away with tank mates with a Midas, as once in a while there are docile specimens, by what I've heard.....i've never owned a Midas, but have read several stories of people that have had Midas with other fish and them getting along great.....I'd try some tank mates and see what happens....throw a few CA cichlids in whith it of about the same size and see what happens.....you might find success.....

There are so many opinions out there that sometimes, you have to just try things and see what happens....I I would have listend to every nay-sayer out there, I wouldn't have put anything in with my Oscar accept semi-aggressive fish.....come to find out, the only thing so far that can survive with my O are the more aggressive Central American species.....

If you want some nice movement in your tank and some good dithers, try a couple Tinfoil Barbs. They are extremely hardy and are usually too fast for anything too serious to happen to them other than loosing some scales here and there. (they grow back in days).... They are very playful and fun to watch playing tag and racing around the tank ;D...

Good luck.....
