When to seperate Blue acara from fry?
« on: December 14, 2009, 09:50:19 AM »
Hi ya guys.
A few weeks ago i bought two Blue acara for my larger set up, which have been in a separate tank while i fattened them up and quarantine time. They were two random fish from two different tanks in the shop and turns out that they were male and female and now have a load of fry(I know that convicts don't waste any time but Blue acaras!?). I'm ready to move the parents to the other tank but am unsure how long i should leave them with their fry. The young have been free swimming for a couple of days now, and there are no other fish in the tank to eat them. Would it be OK to remove the parents now?
Any help would be great. thank you!  :)
P,S  I did introduce myself last night but I'm not sure if it posted properly. I'm new to using forums and a bit cack handed at it at the mo!  :-\
I am in my own little world, but it's okay, they know me here.

Yep, you can remove the parents at any time.  The only problem is the sooner you seperate the parents from the babies the sooner the parents will want to breed again.

1 EBJD (Cichlasoma Octofasciatum)
1 Salvini Cichlid (Cichlasoma/Nandopsis Salvini)
1 Royal Pleco (Panaque Nigrolineatus)
Several cory cats
1 Syndontis Catfish
numerous Giant Danio's
1 Boesmani Rainbowfish
