GT's & Saum's
« on: February 16, 2010, 04:02:40 PM »
I've read alot of posts about gt's and saum's so check my thinking. would it be true that a saum is a gt? perhaps just a different type of gt.

All in the same family.  Green Terror is kind of a common name and it's been applied to several Saum's.

1 EBJD (Cichlasoma Octofasciatum)
1 Salvini Cichlid (Cichlasoma/Nandopsis Salvini)
1 Royal Pleco (Panaque Nigrolineatus)
4 Clown Loaches (Chromobotia Macracanthus)
6 Bleheri Rainbowfish (Chilatherina bleheri)
8 Boesmani Rainbowfish (Melanotaenia Boesemani)

So i take that to mean that a green terror is a type of saum rather than a saum being  a type of green terror.

Aequidens' sp. "Silversaum is the "true species" Another species Aequidens' sp. "Goldsaum" is commonly labelled Green Terror as well.

That would be my understanding, yes.  GT is a common name.  Saum is more the scientific name.
