I've never used the strips. What do they actually test?  ???
I am in my own little world, but it's okay, they know me here.

Nitrites, nitrates, hardness, alkalinity, and ph.  has a color chart for ammonia but doesn't actually  test for it.

Without accurate readings its hard to tell for sure when the cycle is finished, unfortunately clear water doesn't really tell the whole story.

If you can't get a liquid test kit just now then see if LFS will test and give you numbers instead of the usual fine.

Don't get more fish when your there, go in with your eyes closed  ;D

oh no, done  buying fish  for  awile. As i said the new fish were for the little woman's aquarium of a bunch of little non-agro fish. and yes the lfs did a free test for me but also with a strip type test only obviously  an easier to desipher strip type test. and they had no liquid test kits that i am seeking so until i find an lfs that  has what i am looking for  i have to depend on what i currently have for my water testing needs. Which is getting easier now that there are changes happening for the better that are noticable on my strips. sorry so long...uh...winded??

I use the API test srtrips, it is the same brand as the master test kit I have and is pretty accurate.
This is getting expensive! I think I\\\'m gonna need a 2nd job to support my fish habit.

The brand name of mine is mardel here are latest readings are nitrates slightly below 80, nitrites at about 5 down from 10+, ph, hardness & alkalinity all good. so it is improving. another water change planned tonight.
