I think it all comes down to the individual personality of each fish no matter how many.

125 Gal 1 Tiger O, 1 Jack Dempsey, 1 FM, 5 Silver Dollars
90 Gal 1 Lutino O, 1 FM, 1 Blue Acara, 1 Rainbow Shark

It depends on if they pair up. If you get two that pair up they will get very aggressive towards the other two. Plus for 4 oscars you need a massive tank.
Owned by:
Two Jack Russell Terriers
Six Chinchillas
Two Parrots (birds) - Chiquita & Boomer
Parrot (Charlie)
Flower Horn (Bud)
Jack Dempsey (Jack)
Green Terror (Skittles)
Convict Tank
Goldfish
Guppies
African Clawed Frogs (Kermit & Kerbert)
 Cobalt Blue Lobsters

Good point Courtney, if they par up you will have a problem.  O0

But a 180g will hold 4 O`s that get along just fine...With the right filter`s and water changes.  ;)
Could even add a school of SD`s and a Pleco to that tank.

Any other opinions people ?????

I would have thought that if you have the tank size available, the more you have the less aggression any one individual is going to have.  One reason why with Mbuna they are advised to stock heavily but the bigger the tank the better conditions for them as well.

I remember seeing an article about a guy with a huge marine tank.  It has apparently been stated that you couldn't have more than one angel per tank (think it was angels ??) due to aggression issues however, he had dozens living together.

I'm sure there used to be somebody here had an outdoor pond in the Bahamas that kept dozens of Os, JDs, etc together in harmony.
Comes down to giving mating pairs enough room, spreading the aggression and keeping water conditions good I suppose.

I'm sure Al is right and the other thing is would be to get them all the same size that would help. You know them growing and getting used to each other.

Interesting,  but I`ve heard -read that don`t work with SA and CA.
But it might, would explain the video`s.

So you could have 5, O`s in a 180g.  Going by 55g for the first and 30g there after.
Then that would leave you with odd number. So would be better to go with 6 then.?

Then you get back to the aggression part and the breeding par.  Or not.
Am confusing myself now.  lost tract of what I was thinking.  ;D
Need more coffee.

I take it you mean get all baby`s...
Well then you would have the dreaded puberty stage, that could really get out of control, not that one alone isn't out of control at time`s.  ;D

Would it not be better to get them sub-adult`s or even adult`s.  ???

As said elsewhere though Katt, I personally wouldn't do it in anything even at 180g, possibly if I could get double that size but then I'd want to fill a tank that size with something else altogether

Hmm. I would say if you were determined to do this to start them off as a juvenile bunch. Have heard it's the best way to go with SA/CA in general when wanting to keep a few together. It's going to be hit and miss though I think.

They could still single out the weakest in the bunch and give it a hard time, but then O's are quite lazy and don't tend to chase so much as other cichlids.

It's your call really. Be interesting to find out how you get on.  :)
I am in my own little world, but it's okay, they know me here.

I agree, the bigger the tank the more my mind spins :D :D I would probably never get a really big tank stocked. Way too many choices

Thank`s guy`s for all your input.

I picked up 3 O`s the other day.
The two tiger`s look to be a pair.  The baby lut go`s well with them.
But Kiya was pissed, now she is depressed. Have her behind the divider. And she don`t like it.
Here`s a pic of tiger`s in there old home. 110 L.

There are always together, and going by sexing them ( 0o...oo ) looks to be male and female.  :D
But they may not have hit puberty yet.
Going to try and add Kiya again when she settles down.
And get som pic`s up soon.
