About a year back I was up early on a Sunday morning. I had just gone to the local market and gotten back around 8am.
I was in the kitchen talking to my Mum who had gone to market with me and was just about to leave. She remarked "I can hear water running". Confused I first looked at the kitchen sink taps. Not running! Then i looked in the dining romm where the 3ft tank was and I could see water coming out of the back of the tank... (insert expletive here). My immediate reaction was to turn the power off  to the filter and heater, as there was a power board about to start floating on the floor underneath... Or i could end being electrocuted. I turned those off and then yelled for my wife, while grabbing the back of the tank by the side to clamp / stem the water coming out ( about 1/4 had made to the wooden floor in around 30secs). My Mum was in flap not knowing to do! I was yelling get some buckets! My wife appearred and ran and got some towels. i asked her to hold the back of the tank, i ran and got my 25mm CVT pipe and emptied the water from the tank to the patio outside. All my african cichlids where now in a 1 inch high or water.
5 x 9 litre buckets where their tempory homes for a few days...

There where a few things I was thankful for:
1. I was home when this happened!
2. I have no carpet!
