Ok, back in the game.
« on: January 12, 2012, 08:55:24 AM »
I ran a cross a little tank of about 30L today for a give way price.  Only thing it doesn't have is a heater.
So ya I couldn't pass it up.  ::)
BUT,,, it has a broken side, new glass came with, so I just got done silicone it in....Never done it before so don't have much hope I did it right.  ;D  Well see come Sunday when I test it.
And I couldn't get black silicone in this town and didn't want to drive over 2 hour`s ( back and forth ) to get it.   Ya am lazy.  ;)  Ya ya will end up green in the end.

Now what to put in it.  Hm, thinking....
Two Pitbull plecos
6, WCMM`s, ,,, might be pushing it though.
Well be planted of course.  O0

Will post pic`s when I set it up. That's if it don't leek.  ;D

OK the tank is holding, so far so good.  :jump:
The filter is a Elite stingray 10.  200L hour.

Inside has to boxes with coal and god only knows what.

Took them out and replaced them with pad`s.

Hi Katt. Good to see you're back on the horse! Look forward to seeing the end result  O0

Oh no it's a stingray! I've had one of these knocking around as a spare for a few years and is now working alongside a fluvel 4 in the marine tank. to be honest they give good flow, if not too much flow for a small tank, but mechanical filtration leaves allot to be desired. It's shape is odd and in-practical, and I've done the same as you, removing those stupid cartridges and filling the space, but the only sponge you'll ever need to clean is the one in the pointy tale bit at the bottom which gets clogged quickly. I wasted money buying that filter when a few more pounds would have got better. As you can tell I don't like them  :-\

I am in my own little world, but it's okay, they know me here.

  OK that bad huh.  ;D
To be honest I`ve never seen one before, and as it came with the tank, going to give it a try.  As I want to keep it cheep and am curious. ;)
Damn don`t seem to be able to turn down the flow.  That's strange...
Ya can see where the mechanical filtration could be a problem.  so replacing it would be a good idea.

Now on to the lighting. As this hood is the cheep kind with only one 40w balb.  That is not going to cut it for a plants.
So was thinking about trying the GE daylight compact fluorescent balb, 13w would like, as it gives you 6500K. But the 10w will go. just as long as it fits.  :-\

Then I`ll more on to what plants.  :)

WPG, Bulbs, Lumen's,  and Plants (I have a headache)  :-\
See what I got to deal with.

Think am going to replace it with a T5. 8w 3000k daylight ( I think it was ) hm,,
Anyone want to help on the lighting will be most welcomed.
Want to shoot for around 2-3 WPG.

Also thinking about the Eco-complete along with fine gravel.

t5 may be way to go Katt its fairly cheap and pretty good , tungsten can work but it makes the plants to long in stem its like they are reaching up to the light , led would be better but its pretty expensive still
