new to cichlids

hello there
                right a bit about me and my fish keeping,im an old boy living on the coast of devon 2 kids ,1 staffy bull,1 rabbit ,1 guinea pig and 2 tanks 1 containing a shoal of 20 exodons and the other containing a manueli piranha oh almost forgot 1 wife .the mannie is about to be sold so i can set up a 100 gall malawi tank ive had no experience with malawi as ive kept a wide range of piranha for the past 10,000 years ill post up some pics and feedin vids if yyour interested later on. i got this site from aquarank and liked the intro so joined up hope to get some good advice on my new fishy venture regarding seting up for malawi and stocking the tank etc ....thanx klenzza

Welcome to the site klenzza.
As for Malawis - 1st thing to decide is whether you are looking to stock Mbuna, Peacocks or Haps.  This will decide how to set up your tank.  Mbuna must have rocks, Haps depending on which ones may want free swimming space and a few caves and Peacocks could be in between.  Mbuna really must be kept with their own but, in my opinion, they have a lot more character than the others.

 sorry i should have mentione its a mbuna set up im after im tring to source some tufa rock at the moment but having trouble with price!!!!!! ill post some questions in the apropriate place thanx

Far as rock for buffering,good old common limestone works fine.

This is getting expensive! I think I\\\'m gonna need a 2nd job to support my fish habit.

It's the Brewery in town and we've actually just taken over the Old ale house. I live in Threemilstone! On Pendeen road  ;D
