there is alot of factors that play a part in this, so it is hard to say for sure.
but 3-4" a year is not uncommon. males will get larger faster.

frontosas grow slow, easily taking 4 years before they are fullgrown(15") but it is well worth the wait, they are magnifecant cichlids :) ;).

I bought my fronts as 1" fry almost two years ago.  Even with weekly H2O changes good food and TLC my
two biggest males are only about 4-5 inches.  The females are much smaller with the runt about 3-3 1/2.
I've heard that Lake Tanga fish are just slow growers.
All that said, Fronts are totally awesome, regal, beautiful fish and very much worth the wait for growth.
I expect maybe mine will think about spawning in another year or two!
