Teresa, just a quick question for you.  I've noticed in the last few months that Lumpy (the biggest Frontosa) tends to grow a little darker around the mouth at times - with the lighter bands nearly becoming the colour of the darker bands.  Can you tell me if this is normal, or should I be watching him more closely for signs of ill health?

Thanks, appreciate any advice you can give.

I didn't come across anything about that when I was researching for the FOTM. If he is reaching sexual maturity that could be a cause. You should post this question in the African Cichlids topic and get an answer from someone more familiar with Africans.

Great job, Theresa.  I'd love to have a tank full of Frontosa.

And Schelly, I looked at your home page - What beautiful pictures!  Where do you live?

Thanks for visiting the website Candace. I'm only sorry its been so long since I've updated it!   I live on the Far North Coast of New South Wales, on the Richmond River. We grow sugar cane.  Very similar in climate to Florida actually, semi-tropical - very green very nice.

And because all my water is rain water, the perfect ph for my discus (but that's another forum!).  I do have to up the ph for my African and other South American cichlid tanks considerably though.  :-\

Cheers
Schelly  :)

WOW, isn't that another country to add to your list, Tony?  It certainly is beautiful.  Are the pictures near where you actually live?  They look like picture postcards. :)
