What about a non-cichlid forum?

Candace suggested ...

Pred8tor, I think your idea is a good one. In case Tony and Adam don't see your suggestion here, why don't you post it under Site Improvements too.

So here it is...:

While all of us have cichlids, particularly oscars, a lot of us probably have community tanks or tanks with non-cichlids as well. How about adding a forum to discuss these fish?

There's at least three of us now...  ;D

They make non-cichlid fish!? Wow I didn't even know that. Come to think of it, I think I have a couple of those in a fish tank somewhere. I try to keep them out of sight though.  ;)

Oops! I should have put a warning on the first post to keep from totally surprising some folks here!

**** WARNING - Brace yourselves ****

Some of us... (are you ready?) ... actually have ... (are you sure?) ... some fish that do not actually fit in the category of .... (last chance!) ... cichlids.  :o

And I'm not just talking about FEEDERS, either! (I can see that one coming aready!)

Now, that wasn't so bad, was it?   :-\

I agree with ck the general aquaria covers non-cichlids.
Maybe if we get a influx of koi pond owners we could reconsider it down the track.

Ya know, I actually never thought of it like that!  ::)  I guess all of miscellanous posts there just made it seem like a aquarium related catch-all.

Well cool - let's start posting about our tiger barbs, neons, gouramis, tetras, etc. and share our knowledge!

Now, Tony and Adam (even CK) can go back to your regularly scheduled activities...  8)

Hey, in my defense... we DO have a separate forum for SALT WATER FISH.  :o  (and I don't think we're talking about oscars that have been treated with a little salt added to their water.  ;D )

... just thought I'd mention that so you guys won't think I'm completely looney!   8)

Also not to be confused with SALT WATER TAFFY... a tasty product that is made in Virginia Beach, Virginia!

I grew up in Virginia Beach. The taffy they sell down at the beach is ok, but just tourist grade stuff, you know? lol

I grew up there too, Va. Beach and Norfolk.  To be honest, I never really got into the taffy all that much. And yes, it was a big thing with all of the tourist who'd jam Atlantic Ave. and the boardwalk every summer.

By the way, all of this confession about keeping non-cichlid freshwater fish is good for the soul.  Carrying around all of that secret guilt can be unhealthy!  ;D
