Where did you live Pred8tor? I lived in a few places around there. Every few years my mother would get tired of the house and we would move. lol

I was born in Norfolk, and we lived close to the Va. Beach line, not far from the Elizabeth River.  After I got married and moved out, we live in several apartments in VB, and eventually bought our 1st house in Indian Lakes, and then sold that one and bought one in Kempsville,  just off of Lynnhaven Pkwy.

We'd like to go back to Va. Beach, but I had to move here to NC to get a job in my area of "expertise", since I had exhausted the few places in Hampton Roads. We still go back once in a while (it's a 4 hour drive) to see friends and family.

*sigh* Now I'm homesick again.  :'(

Hey, I know where those places are. lol
When I was little we lived about ten or fifteen miles from the bay-bridge tunnel, near Bayside high school. I moved away from Virginia but then came back a lived out near the Princess Anne courthouse, close to Pungo. I graduated from Kellam High School.

I dated a girl who also graduated from Kellam High School... but I expect that was before your time there ('74, I think).  If you haven't been back lately, it's changed a lot in that area of the woods. (It's not much woods any more.)

Speaking of Virginia Beach, they have the best fish store I've ever seen... Animal Jungle (on Holland Road). In addition to fish, they have a reptile room and a bird room. It's like going to a miniature zoo.

Umm..yea. '74 was before I was even born. lol
I lived in those new developments right down the street from Kellam. I had to walk to school before I got a car. It has changed a lot. It was changing a lot when I was there.

Animal Jungle is really cool. I didn't have fish tanks when I lived in VaBch but I had dogs. I should go back there and pay some more attention to the fish this time. It is a really good store.

A few years ago they moved across the street from their old location - If I remember correctly the new location used to be a Big Star grocery store. They kept expanding in the old location until they had almost all of the smaller units in the shopping center, so they moved across Holland Rd. to the new place. Nice!  8)

They must have expanded a lot, but I liked the old location because it was right around the corner from the frozen yogurt place. :)

Yes... TCBY.  Good stuff.  The new store is better organized, having been planned for a larger area to begin with.

I'll never forget the bird room.  When my son was about 3 or 4 years old, he loved for me to take him in there.  The large, exotic birds were free to move around the room, and I picked one up with my free hand (I was holding my son in the other... he was a little nervous around the birds.)  When I tried to put the bird down, the bird didn't want to leave my hand, and kept clinging to me.  :o  My son was getting scared because he saw I wasn't having any luck in getting the bird off of my hand.  I wanted to shake the bird off, but the thing cost thousands of dollars, and they had cameras in the room.   ::)  Finally I got the bird onto a branch, and we were able to get out - I didn't pick them up anymore after that.  ;D

I actually saw a cobra and a rattlesnake in the reptile room once - could you imagine having THOSE for pets?  They were defanged.  You could have a blast with practical jokes!  Of course, you run a real risk of having the people you play jokes on actually dying of heart attacks!  :o

Has anyone been to Community Tank Formus?(http://communitytank.aaquaria.com/phpBB2/index.php) Its a huge place. I think World Cichlids is big enough, we should maybe a live bearer forum and a catfish forum, and maybe a labyrinth fish forum or something. Or make one big one and name it tiny fishes or something. ;D

We do have a section for salt water fish... are they cichlids?  But I do understand our main deal should be cichlids, and that's cool.  8)  <--- see? Cool!

That other site has everything under the sun, and a lot of it is not even fish related.  Good all around site, though. Kind of like going to Walmart or somethin'.   ;D
