Algae problem in tank?
« on: January 21, 2004, 07:33:29 AM »
Hey all...

I have recently upgraded to a 125 gallon tank to house my oscar (8 inches), jd (4 inches), and 4 silver dollars.  There is a good amount of green algae growing up from the gravel in a few spots.
I was going to get a pleco to see if it would take care of this, but i have heard that once plecos get larger, they stop eating algae.  I don't want to put a small pleco in, as it will most likely be lunch.
What would be a good algae eater that could take care of a large algae problem and could also survive with a larger oscar?

    Thanks a lot.

Common plecos will not eat as much algae as others, and will get lazy when they grow old, Bristlenose pleco are ones that won't grow that much and will feen on as much algae you may have.
