An umbee is pretty damn close in size. I had a male umbee and a dovii together in a 220 for awhile. The arrangement did not work, the dovii got his ass kicked on a daily basis, but neither were full grown. I've heard of dovii up to 27" and umbees up to 24" in tanks, I think they would be the closest match, but given fish of the same size the trimac may even hold it's own.

Dovii would pretty much kill every fish on that list. An Umbee would put up a fight. A Jaguar is a Dovii, just about 10 inches smaller. A Red Devil just simply dosnt have the size.

a couple things to keep in mind.....

1: if all thrown in at same size its going to be dertermined by agressiveness for a while not size.

In that case i like Red Devil or Jack Dempsey for a while until Dovi eventually outgrows them after years

2: Jacks have little teeth after a certain age. There flat teeth but still that gives Jack an advantage in lip locking battles.

Until a dovii rips them off  ;)

My 220 had a male dovii, umbee, and a red devil as occupants for a period of time. At first the red devil was the meanest by far, but as a member said the dovii would rip the lips of another fish, it happened. The devil's bottom lip (the fleshy part) was totally torn off by the huge teeth the dovii sported. The Umbee later tore up the RD pretty good before I had to put it down. Actually the umbee even beat the crap out of the dovii, but at the time he was slightly larger. I later sold them both back to the pet store, now I wish I would have kept the umbee, but oh well.  :P

you cant do this poll right unless you do a pound for pound baddest cichlid. like they do in boxing , if there is a heavyweight that is tough , it doesnt mean that he is more ferosious than the mean lean lightweight. you cant put them one on one , but you can compare them pound for pound.

pound for pound either the dovii, or the umbee. The teeth on these bad boys gives them the edge over the others on this list.

I think baddest cichlid has to be defined more specifically. Depending on your idea of "bad" there could be a few different winners.

I think you also have to consider size. If you are talking full size this isn't even a question.  The Dovii would be the one.  If you are talking all these fish at 6" then i would go with a devil or demsey.  All at 12" may change this as well.  I have heard many people say their dovii or jags are not that territorial when they are smaller and need to get relatively large before that happens.  I've never even seen an Umbee so i couldn't comment on that.  And just because a Dovii has teeth doesn't mean he's the meanest.  It just means that he can do the most damage.  What if all these fish had teeth, would the dovii still be king?  Again assuming they were all the same size.
