Being a predator has nothing to do with aggression. C. temensis (wich also get over 3') are pure predators. They feed on other fish, it's what they do and they do it well, but they are not an aggressive fish what-so-ever. I believe it's the same thing for the fish you posted a link to.

Dovii wins hands down for the baddest (most aggressive) cichlid.

When they eat fish 90% their size  , I guess they don't have to be to aggressive

Compare the two -
Max. size(fishbase):african  Emperor 65.0 cm   -25.59  inches
Max. size(fishbase): Dovii   72.0 cm  - 28.35 inches 

then add the temensis ,just for fun 
Max. size(fishbase): temensis 99.0 cm - 38.98 inches

Adult male or adult female dovii? I'd think even a full grown temensis would have trouble getting it's mouth around the huge humps that those male dovii get.

i say red devil cuz i have one at an inch long and its already attacking my 4. 4 inch red parrot. so i have to go with RD

Yea my female red devil is pretty shy and timid I think though wants she hits puberty this will be a hole different story.  Does anyen else think so. heres a pic of here she bout 5 inches hopes she hits puberty soon

I agree with the dude that said sunfish are the baddest.......i currently have a 55 with one 8 in red oscar, a 5-6 in male convict...a smalll female con 3-4 in, and a sailfin pleco......the oscar is always getting his ass kicked by the male con...he tries to fisht back but is too slow...the con rips him up....but the little bluegill...hes a pumpkin seed i cought out of the river.....hes about 3-4 in ...he whoops everyones ass..puts them in their place.... i recently bought a 4-5 in devil that is in a grow out tank with a small texas and a few baby cons..............why wasnt the texan ever brought up? i have read alot about them being real aggresive..whats up?

Dude  I had a huge pumkinseed sunfish in my tank and my little africans and red devil nto very big tore out its eays(I saw the whole thing) Then they tore all of his fins off and push him to the top of the aquarium and bit him to death.  Sun fish are weak compared to what lurks in africa and central america.

its Dovii and Hatiensis no doubt imo.
thought id mention a few african killers.
Neolamprologus Christyi- Lake Tanganyika: these fish stay pretty small but are EXTREMELY territorial and aggressive. i have heard reports of them killing groups of adult Neetroplus Nematopus. they can control very large territories in tanks when breeding even hold large ones when alone. this fish wins no contest in the rift valley maybe all of africa.
Hemichromis Elongatus-West Africa: this fish takes the cake in the continent of africa imo. some say its buttikoferi but pound for pound a H. Elongatus would likely hand his @$$ to him. H. Elongatus r the toughest fish i have ever seen or kept. when i used to be into aggressive fish long ago i had a 3 1/2" female Elongatus rip the upper lip off a 5" red devil. these guys r no joke.
but pound for pound a dovii and Hatiensis would prolly take these two i mentioned also. Hatiensis might even turn the tables on a dovii of the same size.

green sunfish are far more aggresive than pumpkinseeds, so far my green has killed one red devil and beat up my jag and dempsey. theres no real way of knowing which cichlid is the toughest. yeah we know which ones are the baddest  but the only real way to know for sure it to do a best out of ten test, get ten of each fish and see which ones win the most fights. i know the thought of it is insane and stupid but thats the only thing that i can come up with. every single fish has its own peronality type, some are assholes and others are passive. ive had sunfish get beat up and other ones that wont tolerate other fish at all.  RDs have a rep for beating up texas cichlids but ive seen a red devil with its bottom jaw half torn off by a tex of equal size. it all depends on the fish

 i had a green sunfish once in a tank with a umbee and a devil , he beat the crap out of the devil but the umbee put him down . the umbee aint one to be mess with
