it doesn't really hurt at all, just scares you abit  :P  it's the large cichlids that hurt.

if they're charging you through the glass particularly the male that's a very good sign.

I thought it hurt a lot when my male got a hold of the skin on my knuckle and yanked off a chunk.
It's funny now but I never could stick my hands in there again without a dish glove :P

LOL... I think I'll wait before putting my hands in their corner...they don't mind the net, as long as it doesn't go near them. (scooped up a piece of pea they didn't eat)

If they're charging at the glass when you get to close, there's definately wigglers in there somewhere.  I used to try to have a look at one of my pairs fry until I got scared the male was gonna do himself an injury charging at me that hard  ;D

I don't think they are actually hitting the glass, just rushing up to it. They'll watch me for a couple of minutes, then charge at the glass. You'd think I was trying to rob them...lol

Congrats...  They are tuns of fun to watch...  My cons had babies again not too long ago.  I sat there laughing for every because they kept picking them up in their mouths and trying to keep them in the flower pot.  Every time they would get one in another one would swim out...
Have fun... :D:

:( Well, as I posted on another thread it looks like they ate the eggs. I've done some reading up from other sources online and it seems that it is common for them to sometimes eat their first batch of eggs. Oh well, I'm sure it wont be long before they breed again. They seem to have taken the flower pot as their home now instead of by the rock and plants in the other corner.

The female's breeding colors seem to be a lot stronger now then when they first had eggs, fourestant (sp) orange and green on the belly and fins.

I'll just have to wait and see. Thanks for all the info everyone.
