Well, got a guy coming over tonight to take the puppies away  :'(.  Now I really need to get on getting something....still very very undecided.  I like the Apistos, but I don't like how much they are, especially after shipping.  May check around the city for some more shops and see if anyone's got anything. :)

i also think angels are a good idea.  maybe a group of black angels.  ;)  for a tall tank angels really fit the bill

or

a GT.  that might look a lil bare.  i like to had a lot of rockes and plants while the fish is small and start removing decor as the fish grows.

I know you could do a pair of firemouths.I also like salvinis but not sure how big they get.
This is getting expensive! I think I\\\'m gonna need a 2nd job to support my fish habit.

The firemouths are getting acclimated as I type this actually.  I think my next tank will be apistos or africans though, after all the research I did, they look pretty sweet.

Now I just need to figure out what else I can put in there with the guys.  I'm thinking tiger barbs?  Maybe.  Dunno what else.  The firemouths are still pretty young (about an inch) so now's the time.

To answer your question MrBigfish.  Salvanis get up to 7 or 8 inches long.

JK,  your could do 2 Firemouths, a group of Tiger barbs if you wanted and maybe a bottom feeder or 2.  That's an option.

Wound up putting a group of 5 tigers in there (only one appears to be male, so he should have fun).  They're a bout the same size as the little firemouths right now... the firemouths keep trying to kick the barbs out of their areas, but they're so small, the barbs never even notice they're being 'attacked'.  we'll see how long they'll get along halfway civily.  I figured the barbs would hang out higher in the tank, but no luck thusfar.

why don't you try some archocentrus hunduran red points?  their small and really colorful. maybe mix a few with some cryptohero's nanoluteus which is another central american dwarf cichlid. both are small and not as aggressive as a convict cichlid.

Well I hope you have good luck with that.  If you ever decide to change make sure to look into Kenyi/kennyi.  They are one of my favorite fish.  The Females are a Bright Blue and the Males a golden Yellow.  Thats if you ever look into getting into the African Cichlids

A little bit of Cichlid Knowledge- Don't stick your fingers next to a convict during breeding time.  It Hurts.

I'm a bit late in this, but have you thought of dwarf cichlids in there, with some tetras or angels?  How about golden cichlids, rams, butterflies, a pair from the krib family, forest jewels, rainbows (some of my favs), keyholes or the like?  You should be able to fit a pair of the above in there with some cory cats, a few tetras and some angels.
I never met a fish I didn't like (or want to buy)
