Surprise Surprise Surprise
« on: February 15, 2005, 10:06:05 AM »
I went home for work for lunch. I had a buddie meet me there ,I was doing some work on my computer for him. I was back in my computer room when he yelled out "You have baby fish in your tank". Of course I told him he was crossed eyed and didn't know what he was talking about. He informed me, with a few choose words, I was wrong. I went to look and my Con's had what appeared to be 100 or so babies.   ;D

The female is only about an inch long. I figured I had a little while before they would have them as they are still small. I have been cycling a 50g for them and it will/should be ready this weekend. I just didn't make it. I have them in right now with my GT's and jewels. It's going to be a lot of fun i can already see.    :o

thanks all. I got up this am and didn't see a one. I'm hoping mom and dad moved them under the rocks during the night and they have not come out yet. I will see at lunch. This is the first batch and I hope the parents didn't eat them.   :-\

If they're sharing quarters with other fish and the tank is a bit undersize for territory it's highly likely they did eat the fry. Also, it's not unusual for the parents to dispose of the wrigglers themselves on teh first couple batches. Given time they'll get it right and you'll have more baby cons then you'll know what to do with them   ;)

We have the power to do any damn fool thing we want to do, and we seem to do it about every ten minutes.

Thats one reason for the 50g I've been working on JC. I checked my readings this morning and I had 0 ammonia and the nitrites were at .5. Hopefully if everything goes good it will be done this weekend and I can get ready to move things around. I got a kick out of the daddy last night. I have some Java moss in the tank he has been having a go at. Well he removed it from the rocks and it was stuck to my intake tube. Before I could get my hands on it to put it back HE HAD BIT me three times.  :o. I was a little shocked at first but it was totally cool. I think he got me a total of about 8 times before I was done. It was no where near him. I will let you know what I find at lunch 56 minutes and counting. O0
