If it is for cichlids then it is recommended that you get a filter that will cycle the tank 10 times an hour.

ie:  250ltr tank X 10 = 2500 ltr per hour filter.

hope that helps  O0

I just looked at the prices of filters and it will be hellishly expensive to get that much filtration. i will need like 10 canister filters  :(
There must be a cheaper way to filter a 1225 liter tank  :'(

With a tank that size (I assume you're talking about the 350gal you're gonna get?) the only way to go, really, is a wet/dry filter.  They're based around a sump that should be about 1/4 the volume of your main tank.  You stuff that with bio and mechanical filtration aids (ceramic rings, filter wool, sponges etc) and attach a large pond pump.  Well, there's a little bit more to it than that, but those are the basics  ;)  You can also buy wet/dry filters, several companies that make canisters also make wet/dry filters, but I believe they can be quite expensive.  With wet/dry's you're looking at the volume of the sump, rather than the gallons/litres per hour.  Do a search on DIY wet/dry filters and I'm sure you'll find plenty of info  ;)

Not wrong bru, took 4 of us to move my 180 into the house, but admittedly that was up and down loads of stairs and some heavy angles. Plus is was a stinker of a day so we were sweating like paedophiles in a schoolyard, which made it even worse.
