a great tank for your dempsey that would be cheaper, at least in my area, than a 55 or 75 would be a 45 breeder.  this tank is 36" long, 18" wide and 16" tall.  in this size tank I think you could easily keep a breeding pair.  O0

also, vacuuming the gravel does remove some of the beneficial bacteria, but not enough to cause any problems in the tank.  I don't think doing daily gravel vacs would hurt the cycle of the tank because the majority of the beneficial bacteria is in the filter media.  This is what keeps the tank stable even though there is also bacteria on the decorations, in the gravel and even in the water. :)
