I think it can work, but with Cichlids as always, it depends on the temperment, of each fish. I have an Oscar with a JD,FM and GT, and they get along fine, so I'd say go for it, especially if they are females, because you got a better chance of it working that way. O0
do you have all those fish in a 55?
Ummmm, no. look to the left where my name is at and you'll see 150 Gallon tank next to my name. However, I did forget to add that with that combo, to get it to work for the long run, you will need to upgrade to a bigger tank.
LOL, I did forget he said 55G.

lol sorry about that, i just posted without thinking...

Yes, two cons would be more than fine in a 55g, and Yes, one oscar and two cons in a 55g would possibly be pushing it for bioload, but could be done with very good tank maintenance, filtration, and keeping a very very close eye on signs of aggression.

I have a similar set up in a 55gal tank but along the way I had to get ride of my female convict because she was the catalyst for trouble that was starting to manifest itself. I've seen stranger combos like a jaguar, a convict, a jd, and an oscar all male living together peacefully in a 50gal long. They were all tank mates since about the 1 1/2 inch size and now they are full grown. they do tend to divide the tank in half with the jaguar on one side and the jd on the other. The oscar and the convict just do what they want and even at feeding there are no issues other than splashing. I think this is more luck with matching fish personalities than an actual advisable course of action. After I took the female out there was nothing but harmony in the tank. Imagine that. Plus she was an incessant digger, re-arranger. ;)
I took you home, put you on the glass, I pulled off your wings and I laughed. I saw you change into a fly.

it's true that personality will define how tankmates co-exist with one another but a jag, convict, jd and an oscar in a 50 is very unwise and should not be done. apart from any aggression issues which can surface out of the blue even though not apparent for a long while, the tank space itself in terms of water volume and room is extremely inadequate. jaguars are one of the more common american cichlids that requires a very large tank capacity (some say 150gal +). the jd also requires a largeish volume around 50 gal in my opinion and a lone oscar even without the others shouldn't be kept in anything under 55 gals due to issues with water quality. also an oscar allthough being large and appearing to be aggressive at times is a relatively peacefull fish by nature whereas the jaguar cichlid is a feirce preditory fish.

I agree with fnesr, I was just relating something that saw, not what I have or would recommend someone to do. ???
