I had eggs with 2.5 weeks....If you really want fry, check your water, make sure it is okay. Also, pick up a small piece of slate and a 6 inch clay pot....Just lay the slate on your gravel, and put the clay pot on its side on the gravel.....They will probably use the pot to lay eggs in.....But may use the slate. Make sure you rinse both very well, before putting in tank. Do you see them making beds in the gravel yet?

Give them about a week or 2, and just check for eggs every day....I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised ....This is my first experience with Cichids, I have always had livebearers, but I think cichlids are much easier, at least convicts are....I would like to try and raise a few different types....Anybody, know another type of cichlid, that is fairly easy to breed?

Just have a good plan what you are going to do with the fry.....I think my 1 LFS can only handle so many convicts.....I have about 200 fry right now
