Personally i'd let him grow a little to get a better identification with the understanding that whatever you have may not be appropriate for your current tank or tankmates.  Keep an eye on him in case of aggression and have a backup plan (like another tank he could go in or trading into the lfs).  Good luck either way.

Oh, and before i forget....................................................Get a new camera!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

1 EBJD (Cichlasoma Octofasciatum)
1 Salvini Cichlid (Cichlasoma/Nandopsis Salvini)
1 Royal Pleco (Panaque Nigrolineatus)
Several cory cats
1 Syndontis Catfish
numerous Giant Danio's
1 Boesmani Rainbowfish

If they are Bifas (Vieja bifasciatus) then you'll probably need to get rid of one of them eventually.  And they don't take to other tankmates very well, so he'll probably need his own space, something around 75 gallons.  http://www.tangledupincichlids.com/images/bifasc.jpg  Thats an adult Bifas, they're nice looking fish, but not very friendly from what I've heard  ;D

I would have to agree looks like vieja... Probably a juvie green... But if he is in fact a pearl texas... (which it maybe they do take a while to color up) I dont know if you know alot about the different types of flowerhorns but the pearl texas is in fact a flowerhorn and a texas mix... they look discolored as youngsters but grow to be gorgeous as they get older (the older the better) but from the picture the body style of your fish looks more like a vieja... but like I said the little guys look a little different... (like an off colored texas blue)

Looking at The body shape alone of the fish i got is definitely not a texas!

your fish looks more like a vieja... but like I said the little guys look a little different... (like an off colored texas blue)
i now agree shape of the face is more vieja!

i will just have to wait and see.....

Just outa curiosity.....how do you pronounce the word Vieja  ;D

thx for the help!  :)

WHAT?   >:(
So now they're giving flowerhorns names that used to be used on real species of cichlids?  >:(

IF so the mutant lovers have gone way to far, already made enough mess of other fish with the flowerc :-X p fish  >:(

I looked on all the major flowerhorn sites and didn't see any with  "texas" in their name other then  the red texas, thankfully  8)
Where'd you get this info?

It's getting funnier and stupider everyday - with these "cool, great, wonderful" hybrids.
If they're so great why is it more and more they're sold as real species of fish ?
  Don't think so?
Look around (I said this would happen a long time ago)
flowerhorns - sold as trimacs
flowerhorns - sold a midas
Flower horns (red texas) - sold as real texas cichlids
and theres more
and there will probally be more  >:(
and they'll finish with flowerthatruinedthehobbyhorn

Insane,stupid and pointless >:(
It's about equal to putting a lamborghini emblem and a for sale sign on a yugo
I've had a fish or two

I actually think that a red texas are the same thing but people call them different things when one looks more blue... due to its Texas blue gene... Just a guess... But it makes sense you cant sale a red texas if it has some blue in it (so lets call it a pearl texas) so we can sale even more... I don't know Its impossible to label them all correctly cause people rename them all the time....
