Yer the SF at my LFS IS a beauty, its in a 125gal (i think) with assorted africans and a big clown loach. he doesn't hide much, mainly because theres nothing for him to hide under/in. and i don't think he needs to hide, he's the biggest in the tank.

I've also had Plecos that do that too.  It all depends how comfortable or less stressed they are feeling at that present moment. Totally normal behavior. O0
