Got cornfused.  See it was a Zebra that was being talked about.  Thought I had found a good deal for someone.  I would get one of the Tigers if I had the room.

By the way chopper I like the mix you have in your 55gal. O0Others will say itsd overstocked, but we all know it depends on the tempermant of the individual fish.
This is getting expensive! I think I\\\'m gonna need a 2nd job to support my fish habit.

I'm trying to get rid of my GIANT gol spot if anyone wants it. I could paint it black and white and call it a Zebra if you want it  ;)

Giant?  how big makes one a giant?  just wondering and do you have a pic of that one?
I'm just being nosy, since I don't think it would make the trip across the pond very well.

But rumor has it that someone IS in the market for some larger varieties of 'clean up fish' around here. :D

I'd have to disagree  with you on this one Mrbigfish, he is over stocked. Despite the temperament of the fish, he has too many big guns in there and when you have a situation like that, it can only cause harm in the future, with those big guys all in a 55 gallon. ???

;D  ;D Man I almost went for a 200 but I just do not have the room.  Glad I have a concrete slab so weight on the floor is not an issue.  Pick up the 100 tomorrow and then have to build the stand and get the tank ready for the fish transfer.  30 years ago you would set up a tank and when the temp. and PH were ok you put the fish in.  No waiting for cycles or anything and seldom had a problem.  I have to stop going to the LFS and looking at the fancy Disk they have.  Got the bug bad but that means another tank.  :D

Funny you should mention "just threw the fish in and never had a problem".  When i started in college i knew nothing about fish and the lfs didn't do education unless you asked a specific question.  When you know nothing, you certainly don't know what questions to ask. :-[  I never lost a fish though to an uncycled tank but that's mostly through dumb luck.  When i started i was told to do water changes every week (and back then that was considered overkill if you asked the lfs people) and i always started with a very understocked tank which is rare with newbies.   :o  Funny how things have changed.  For the better admittedly ;) but it is funny how attitudes and what is considered "the right thing to do" can change over time with increased knowledge/understanding of the hobby.

Back then i was told that you didn't have to clean the tank more than once per month and that undergravel filters were the most efficient filters you could have with the same confidence that would be expressed today if we said do weekly water changes and stay away from UGF for cichlids. :D

1 EBJD (Cichlasoma Octofasciatum)
1 Salvini Cichlid (Cichlasoma/Nandopsis Salvini)
1 Royal Pleco (Panaque Nigrolineatus)
Several cory cats
1 Syndontis Catfish
numerous Giant Danio's
1 Boesmani Rainbowfish

Yea Joe it is like learning all over agin.  The more I read and spend time on the internet I wonder how I ever successfully raised and bred a lot of fish when I was young.  Never did water changes.  Didn't know about it.  Had minimal filtration because that was all that was available.  Like they say, ignorance is bliss.  :P  Seemed the biggest problems you could have was over feeding, Ick and a heater screwing up and boiling your tank.  Need to know a lot more now but then there is a much larger variety of fish available and each comes with a set of requirements for happiness.

It's fun learning again. ;)

I too remember those days.  1992 to be exact.  :)  Funny how much things change in a decade.
um.  er.  I mean, I'm too young to remember when anyone would have suggested such a strange thing.  :(
