this red devil  you have is is basically the same as a midas?  If so I think I have your twin .. mine is defiantly  6 inchs now  and in the  90 gal tank with a green terror (4 in) and jack dempsey (5 in) and about  8 of the  convit fry I left in the  when I took out the parents and put into the  29 gal tank

its getting to be cricket season  here now and  the  GT and JD love em .....  the midas  Just shys away  and hides  when I  toss one in ...........  now that   I have been digging  in the garden   decided to  try some worms ...  red wrigglers ...  the JD usually gets to the first one as fast as he can . the GT will  get  the seccond one  but  leaves half of the worm  sticking out ..  toss in a 3rd worm  and the midas wants no parts of  it  ....... b4 it can  wriggle itself  into the gravel  the  midas will  go  up to  it and sniff at it like a dog and just leave it alone.  How  strange is this?    I am 95% sure the midas is male because of the showings of  the  bump on his forehead.

I'm glad to hear you got him out in time.  RD's are tricky and i believe even the "mild" tempered ones are merely biding their time to strike. >:D  They do make great fish from my understanding in tanks by themselves.  Will likely become very responsive to you and a full grown RD is a beautiful fish.
