Thank you everyone.  He's out and about today. Yes.This could be interesting,if we do get some you will hear all about it.lol.I was looking into getting some small size cichlids for the 30gal.I might just wait,and do that later.In 4 weeks I will put the female in. |

is his cave nearby? The males will try and entice/push a female into his cave if she's ready to drop eggs.
Then once she lays will push her out and he will then fertilise the eggs and protect the cave until he feels they are big enough and then he'll push them out

I have put in four caves,but his cave was at the other end of the tank.Can you tell when the female is ready? Does she get fat with eggs or anything?

hard to tell about the plump eggs look as plecs look plump most times  Have never been able to tell when ours were ready to go as they are in my sons bedroom and I don't look in every day |
